Not sure this line is as clever as you might think

Apparently, John Kerry said

Ask Osama Bin Laden if he’s better off now than he was four years ago.

My guess is Bin Laden’s answer is the same as most Americans. And that answer doesn’t help the President.

So here’s a question for yah

If everyone knows what your Secret Service code name is, why have a Secret Service code name?

The What-If Game

Is there anyone who doesn’t know what the press would be saying about the economy if John McCain had won the last election?

Did I just hear that?

On NPR’s Talk of the Nation, I just heard Howard Dean predict there would be another recession if we re-elect Barack Obama.

I swear to God, (no matter how much someone claims I’m quoting him out of context), that’s what he said.

The absolutely weirdest part is that he meant it in a good way.

If I ever go to prison…again…

…I’m going to come up with a “medical necessity” that can only be cured by being free.

A federal judge today ordered state prison officials to provide a taxpayer-funded sex-reassignment surgery to a transgender inmate serving life in prison for murder.

U.S. District Judge Mark Wolf ruled in the case of Michelle Kosilek, who was born as a man but has received hormone treatments and lives as a woman in an all-male prison. Robert Kosilek was convicted of murder in the killing of his wife in 1990.

Wolf is believed to be the first federal judge to order prison officials to provide the surgery for a transgender inmate.

Kosilek first sued the Massachusetts Department of Correction 12 years ago. Two years later, Wolf ruled that Kosilek was entitled to treatment for gender-identity disorder, but stopped short of ordering surgery. Kosilek sued again in 2005, arguing that the surgery is a medical necessity.

Scot-Walker-land?

My first night in Scotland, I was having dinner at the Greyfriars Bobby when a regal older woman at the table next to me overheard me talking about Wisconsin.

“You’re from Wisconsin,” she asked.

“Yes,” I said.

“I’m from South Carolina and I prayed every day that Scott Walker would win his recall election,” she said.

“Me, too,” I said.

Want to know why Apple is the most valuable company in the world?

I’m in Scotland. Everywhere you go, you see the white iPhone earbuds in people’s ears. And for much of today, I sat between a young Italian girl using her iPhone and a German man using his iPad. That pretty much sums it up.
