Should I help bring the death penalty to life?

I’ve never been a huge believer in the death penalty…at least not as an official function of the state. (I’m all in favor of the intended victim punching his assailant’s ticket at the time of the crime.)

But I want to give you folks who believe in the death penalty the chance to convince me to vote for it.

An opportunity to get another vote for your side? How often does that happen?

Free speach for me, but not for thee

The nice thing about students literally repressing Minutemen founder Jim Gilchrist‘s speech at Columbia University last night is that it reminds us that some on the Left in America have actually come to believe that free speach means nothing more than shouting down anyone who disagrees with you.

As one of the students said:

“I don’t feel like we need to apologize or anything. It was fundamentally a part of free speech. … The Minutemen are not a legitimate part of the debate on immigration.”

It stunneds me that this student can’t see the irony in believing that HIS free speech gives him the right to decide who else deserves to be heard.

What are they teaching at Columbia?

And how many of these students are attending the Columbia School of Journalism?

I know it sounds childish…

…but I have one thing to say to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reporters who wrote today’s story about how both candidates for Wisconsin governor have been running “negative” campaign ads about each other…

…Doyle started it! Nah, sildenafil case nah, nah, boo, boo!

The myth of the “independent” voter

Almost everyone I’ve ever heard describe themselves as an “Independent” actually votes for one party or the other 99.9% of the time*…they just want to feel good about themselves by pretending they have an open mind.

That being said: I would never call myself a Republican…but I’d never vote for a Democrat.

Make of that what you will.

*Statistic completely made up.

Unexpected opinions.

  1. I don’t think we should be torturing anyone.
  2. I think we would be better off if we’d never invaded Iraq.
  3. I’m leaning towards voting against the death penalty.
  4. I’m leaning towards voting against the gay marriage amendment.
  5. I like smoking bans.
  6. I don’t think the free market is infallible.
  7. I like the seperation of church and state.
  8. I believe evolution makes a lot of sense.
  9. I think we would often be better off approaching terrorism as a law enforcment issue rather than as a war.
  10. I don’t think I’m always right.

If you could steal one election, why wouldn’t you steal all of them?

I heard more conspiracy nonsense on NPR this morning.

They were talking about electronic voting machines and how they make it easy to steal elections (an assessment that I don’t disagree with).

But then someone called in to talk about how the Republicans have been stealing elections for the last two years.

And I’m really PISSED.

Not because he believed that nonsense.

But that I have to put up with Jim Doyle, generic viagra try Russ Feingold, cialis and Hillary Clinton, and Nancy Pelosi.

After all, if the Republicans have gotten so good at stealing elections I want them to start stealing a couple here in Wisconsin.

The above was meant sarcastically. I in no way endorse actual election fraud. Thank you for your attention.

So…..a judge appointed by Jim Doyle…

…will decide if a group of Democrats (urged on by a Jim Doyle campaign lawyer) was right when it acted to cripple the gubernatorial campaign of Mark Green (who is running against Jim Doyle).

So much for clean government in Wisconsin.

Who is more racist…

…the people who want everyone to show an ID when voting…or the people who argue that blacks are too incompetent to get an ID?

Hat tip: Real Debate
