This is something that really troubles me:

Nick from The World According to Nick watched last night’s presidential debate with some folks at Drinking Liberally (where left-leaning bloggers get together).

He noted one moment in particular:

On the Negative Campaigning

This was simply a stupid topic to talk about. McCain sounded hurt, viagra sale levitra but not very convincingly… and the reality is… both parties are at fault here. Both parties throw mud and pretend they don’t, viagra generic drugstore and act hurt by the mud the other side throws. Welcome to American Politics. McCain did do a good job hitting Obama on his broken promise to take federal funds, site but thats about all that was good here.

This is also where Drinking Liberally turned a little nasty and I had to step out for a few minutes before I lost control. I said something to someone next to me regarding how both sides are being nasty, and he brought up some of the McCain attacks, and seemed to think Obama supporters were clean. I said that “Nobody is clean here. Look at the people who are calling Sarah Palin a cunt”. He then looked me straight in the face (with his girlfriend right next to him) and said “But Sarah Palin is a cunt.” I almost lost it right there. I simply responded with “Then you are no better than anyone else”, and walked out for a few minutes.

I have a low opinion of Hillary Clinton, but I would never refer to her as the “c” word.

The fact that someone who would probably identify himself as a feminist would think that it’s ever appropriate to call a woman that word is just staggering to me.

Why “smart” people are often liberals

Apparently, viagra sales pharm all the 2008 US Nobel Laureates in Science endorse Obama.

I’m never surprised when “smart” people (which usually means folks in academia) are liberals.

There are plenty of good reasons for this:

  1. Self interest: Most folks like these scientists are employed by universities. All universities are directly or indirectly subsidized by governments. Usually, cialis sale shop what’s good for government is good for the universities and liberalism is good for governments.
  2. A disconnection from harsh realities: There is a reason academia is often referred to as the ivory tower. The practice of tenure, mind and the high salaries paid to most academics persuade them that the world is a kinder, gentler place than it really is. In other words, they can afford to be liberals because the world they live in is somewhat isolated from “real” world pressures. I always thought that Ray put it best in Ghostbusters, “Personally, I liked the university. They gave us money and facilities, we didn’t have to produce anything! You’ve never been out of college! You don’t know what it’s like out there! I’ve *worked* in the private sector. They expect *results*. “
  3. Socrates. Academics love Socrates concept of the philosopher-kings. The smartest people should rule for the good of all. Of course, this overlooks the desire of people like me not to be “ruled” at all.

The only way tonight’s Presidential debate helps John McCain…

…is if Barack Obama comes on and says, best viagra capsule “yes, I am a communist, I do think America sucks, AND I’m a card-carrying member of the Black Panthers.”

And even then, I think the polls would only close to a three point lead for Obama.

I think this exceeds…

…the “Bradly Effect.”

New poll gives Obama 17-point state lead

The election isn’t even here, sildenafil cialis yet, cialis sale health and the press is already moving on to how Barack Obama is going to govern.

Now THIS is non-partisan

Lots of organizations claim to be non-partisan when they clearly are.

But what do you say when an organization that almost everyone assumes is a Republican front actually endorses a Democrat?

The National Rifle Association is endorsing U.S. Rep. Steve Kagen today.

Kagen, viagra buy shop an Appleton Democrat, remedy is running for re-election against Republican challenger John Gard of Suamico in the 8th Congressional District.

The NRA awarded each candidate an “A” for supporting the organization in key votes — Kagen in his first term in office and Gard, and the former Assembly speaker, during his long tenure in the state Legislature.

But being an incumbent has its benefits.

The endorsement always goes to the incumbent when everything else is equal, said Jeff Nass, an NRA member and president of the Wisconsin Rifle and Pistol Association.

People claim the NRA is a Republican surrogate, but how many times have you seen the National Organization for Women endorse a Republican?

Wow, isn’t this pretty much the last thing you want to encourage people to do?

Barack Obama is proposing to:

allow savers with tax-favored Individual Retirement Accounts and 401(k)’s to withdraw 15 percent of those retirement savings, discount viagra for sale up to a maximum of $10, generic 000, without paying a tax penalty as the law currently requires for withdrawals before age 59 and a half;

Isn’t taking money out of our 401ks at this moment in time literally the worst thing we could do?

That money is invested in stocks.

Getting your money means selling the stocks.

More stock for sale on the market means lower prices.

Which means that the market crashes again.

Plus, selling your stock today guarantees that you bought high and sold low. Always a horrible idea.

This is the time to buy, not sell.

Seriously…who the hell thought this was a good idea?

Take it with a grain of salt

Hillary Clinton predicts “very big win” for Barack Obama.

Of course, buy viagra sovaldi she also predicted she was going to win the nomination, best viagra pharmacy so her skills as a prognosticator are somewhat questionable.
