A question for the geeks in the audience

Why the hell do Jedis wear lightsabers on their left hip?

Swords were traditionally worn that way because the length of the blade meant a right-handed person could really only draw a sword from that position.

But lightsabers have no blade until they are activated. It would be much quicker to wear one on your right hip the same way a gun is holstered.

Of course, viagra sales sildenafil spaceships don’t sound like fighter jets, either. Mr. Lucas was never a stickler for reality.
