When the Founding Fathers wrote the constitution…

…this was considered a feature, not a bug:

The Senate is working exactly as intended. Jesus, didn’t anyone at the Times go to Social Studies or Civics when they were a kid?

Wayne Gretzky…

…has a daughter?

Though, I think she takes more after her mother:

This was on PBS.org?!!!! Does that mean it’s not racist anymore?

The fundamental problem is that the gap in educational achievement, which is a key in our technological economy, is due in my opinion — and the opinion of many, including Arne Duncan, our secretary of education — to the fact that the families of the poor who are not very educated are not talking to their children, interacting with their children, insisting they do their homework and so on. Should we say it’s a failure? Let’s say it’s an error of omission.

I think I finally figured out why some people are so gung-ho to get rid of the penny

The sales tax in Milwaukee County is 6 cents. If we got rid of the penny do you think the tax would go down to 5 cents or up to 10?

And every time a tax went up forever after it would have to go up by at least a nickel.

Looks to me like getting rid of the penny isn’t about how much money it would save the government. It’s about how much it would make the government.

The next time someone says to me…

…Government has the right to regulate what we eat because healthcare costs are a collective expense, I’m going to ask if Government should have outlawed gay sex at the beginning of the AIDS epidemic.
