Hell hath no fury like a bunch of misguided MilwaukeeMoms

My friend who posts at the mom-oriented blog Charliesaurus made the mistake of following my advice and trying to promote her blog by leaving comments on various sites around the Internet.

(Don’t pretend you haven’t done the same thing. If you haven’t, viagra sale and you probably don’t have much of a readership. ;))

One of the sites she choose was MilwaukeeMoms: a division of The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and Journal Communications.

By making posts that lead back to her site, discount viagra store she apparently ran afoul of a prohibition against promoting your business on MilwaukeeMoms‘ discussion groups.

Now, Charliesaurus.com is not a business. (She did have some affiliate links on her site, but she immediately removed them to try to be in compliance with MilwaukeeMom’s rules.) But that didn’t save her from a righteous tongue-lashing from sanctimonious moms pissed that she had the nerve to link to her blog from their sacred site.

What I find most amusing, is they did their ranting against her supposed self-promotion on pages filled with banner ads for J.C. Penny, Ford cars, and USA Baby.

I guess they’re too busy protecting their little community from the evils of self-promoting bloggers to notice that the only ones making money off them are the people who own the site they’re trying to protect.

It worked.

Despite last-year’s handwringing over the chaperone policy Mayfair Mall implemented in an attempt to decrease crime, cialis buy tadalafil the new policy has been an unmitigated success:

When Wauwatosa’s Mayfair Mall implemented a strict chaperone policy in 2007 for those 17 and younger, medicine Theresa Schultz feared the teen-oriented shoe store she helps run would suffer. But nearly a year into the restrictions, Schultz said she’s happily surprised on a couple of fronts — crime and rowdiness have decreased at the mall, and sales at the shop she manages, Journeys Shoes, have increased.

Maybe they can call it the “We Screwed Jane Pettit Center?”

Maybe we can sell the right to rename headstones in cemeteries, too.

“Surprised” isn’t the word I would use.

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel columnist Eugene Kanes asked his readers if they were surprised that Milwaukee Ald. Michael McGee solidly won his district from behind bars.

No. I’m not surprised, viagra canada troche just very, very disappointed.

The myth of teenage pregnancy

One of the factors most often cited in the continuing decline of America’s inner cities is the unbridled growth of teen pregnancy.

ANd yet, cialis sales treat oddly enough, patient I’m the product of a teenage pregnancy.

But instead of dropping out of school and going to jail, I went on to college and middle class life.

I believe the thing that contributed most to my success was that my father did what people referred to back in the day as “the right thing” and married my mother.

He worked up to three jobs at a time until he could start his own business and support his family. He never complained. He never quit. He never got into trouble. He taught me how to be a good man in the only way that matters: he lived his life in front of me.

Of course, nowadays there’s no pressure on a teenaged boy who impregnates a girl to marry her.

He’s free to take off and impregnate someone else and he often does…never realizing that any fool can make a baby, but only a real man can make a family.

So, as far as I’m concerned, the problem in today’s inner city is not so much the increase in teenaged mothers as it is the marked decrease in teenaged fathers.

Nicely said, Mr. Kane

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel columnist Eugene Kane wrote a very good column about trying to end the black-on-black violence in Milwaukee.

I have to admit though that my favorite part was what he said to the people who call him whenever there is a shooting in town:

(FYI: I submit that if your first instinct after hearing about senseless violence in town is to contact me instead of sending angry messages to the mayor, generic viagra treatment police chief or your alderman, cialis generic troche your priorities are sorely misplaced.)

Around 4.25% of the African Americans in Wisconsin live in Madison

…which makes it the perfect place for presidential candidate Barack Obama‘s only currently-scheduled pre-primary appearance.

I’m sure the 72.6% of the State’s African Americans who live in Milwaukee won’t feel snubbed.
