Be the best victim you can be!

I think Milwaukee Journal Sentinel guest columnist Steve Paske didn’t go far enough in his article recommending that victims cooperate fully with an armed robber.

He forgot to mention that if you’re being raped, viagra usa unhealthy you should just lay there and take it with a smile.

And if they kill you at the end of the rape or burglary, it was probably your fault because you weren’t convincing enough when you promised not to identify them to the police.*

*And sarcasm detected in this post by the reader was fully intended by the author. Thank you for your attention.

Did anyone on the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel editorial board actually go to school?

In their inevitable editorial endorsing liberal lawyer Linda Clifford for Wisconsin’s Supreme Court, tadalafil medicine the Miwaukee Journal Sentinel dismissed concerns that Clifford might be an “activist judge” by saying:

The law must evolve to meet changing needs.

Sure, viagra sometimes the law might need to change with the times. Luckily, we have an entire branch of government dedicated to changing the law when it needs changing: it’s called the legislature.

Most people actually learn about checks and balances in elementary school. Maybe it’s time the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel editorial board sat in on a 5th grade social studies class. They might finally understand why so many Americans are uncomfortable with the modern trend of laws being made in the courthouse instead of in the statehouse.

I’m glad they weren’t black, too

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel columnist Eugene Kane says he’s glad that the two 10-year-olds who participated in the beating of a homeless man in Florida weren’t black:

The momemt I heard about the story this morning, viagra sales sovaldi sale I had a sinking feeling. Yet another portrayal of black dysfunction was going to be spread to a national audience. A legion of right-wing talk show hosts would jump on the tale of inner city communities gone mad due to the lack of good parents and ‘victim’ mentality.

I agree.

It’s good to be reminded that blacks aren’t the only ones who commit heinous crimes.

In addition, buy cialis I’m glad the victim doesn’t seem to have been black, either. That means that a legion of left-wing columnists won’t be able to jump on the tale as another example of America’s racist persecution of African-Americans.

It goes both ways, Mr. Kane

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel columnist Eugene Kane‘s latest blog post contains an interesting observation about Kiara Bullocks (the young woman who stayed with Scott Higgins as he lay dying in the street after being shot during a robbery):

Also, viagra sales cialis another reader pointed out an interesting fact.”You know, Kiara is exactly the kind of young person they don’t want at Mayfair Mall anymore.”It’s true she falls into the demographic of young people who will need parental escorts at certain times. That doesn’t mean mall management is targeting her specifically, but yes¬†the end result is the same. And that’s ironic.

You know what else is ironic? Mayfair’s policy would also keep the 16-year-old who murdered Scott Higgins in cold blood out of the mall, too.

That’s a tradeoff I’m more than happy to make.

A quick note on Laurel Walker’s column Taxpayers must sing for their supper

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel columnist Laurel Walker is all up in arms that a Menomonee Falls magician was “forced” to perform a benefit to raise money to have the snow shoveled of a public sidewalk near where he lives during the winter:

He’s been unable to persuade officials in Menomonee Falls, cialis sale buy viagra where he’s lived since 1994, viagra to keep the public sidewalk along Pilgrim Road near Kohler Lane clear of snow during the winter. It’s a route he and others like to walk for exercise…

Here’s a thought…if you’re so interested in exercuse, why don’t you shovel the freaking sidewalk yourself? That way, you’ll get twice the exercise and your fellow citizens will get none of the costs.

Someone needs to give this reporter a dictionary so he can look up the difference between “killing” and “murder”

In an essay about the new movie 300, best viagra ailment Newsweek reporter Evan Thomas wrote:

The bad guys in “300” also include corrupt Spartan politicians who refuse to send more troops to the battle. Some right-wing bloggers have likened them to liberal Democrats voting against the surge in Iraq. Moviegoers may be a little confused by other cultural echoes in the film. The Spartan heroes seem to be in love with what one of them calls “a beautiful death.” Just like, viagra generic er, Islamic suicide bombers.

Yes…just like suicide bombers…if you ignore the fact that suicide bombers mostly kill innnocent civilians. There is a moral difference between wanton slaughter of children and shopkeepers and killing an enemy in battle. It concerns me that someone who writes for Newsweek isn’t able to see that…although, unfortunately, it doesn’t surpise me.

The roundup roundup?

Kudos to the Thoughtful Conservative for putting together an uber roundup of the various roundups of Wisconsin’s “cheddarsphere.”

I’m a little torn about this recent craze for compilations. I love being cited, cialis capsule but I always suspect that a mainstream media-sponsored roundup goes against the spirit of blogging.

The traditional media have always been the gatekeepers and mediators of importance. When traditional media powers like the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and Fox News Milwaukee (and in a different context: Charlie Sykes, Jessica McBride, and Wisconsin Public Radio) make lists of notable blog posts or elevate certain bloggers to the status of columnists or commentators, aren’t they reasserting their age-old prerogative of deciding what’s worthy of attention and what’s not?

No third party alternative has ever really become viable in U.S. politics. Normally, one of the major parties simply appropriates the best ideas of the the third party for itself. And I’m wondering if we aren’t seeing the same dynamic applied to the new Fifth Estate (i.e. bloggin) by the Fourth Estate.

Today, when France bans citizen journalists from reporting violence…

…it seems crazy.

But within 10 to 20 years, viagra generic medical someone will propose doing something similar here and they’ll call it compassionate.

Thanks to the confidentials for triggering this post.

Come now, Mr. Kane, everyone knows there is no such thing as a “black” Republican

In a snarky blog post about the color of the 2008 Presidential candidates, buy viagra remedy Milwaukee Journal Sentinel columnist Eugene Kane wrote:

“It’s wonderful to look forward to the 2008 presidential elections. It will almost certainly be a landmark occasion in terms of realizing the American dream of diversity.A female, best viagra an African-American, and a Hispanic, all running for president of the United States. On the Republican side…er, three white guys so far.(Guess they didn’t get the memo.)”

The truth is, it wouldn’t matter if a Republican presidential candidate were descended directly from Dred Scott; any African-American running as a Republican is immediately stripped of his or her blackness and becomes an Aunt Jemima, Uncle Tom or Oreo.

We won’t have true equality in this country until people and pundits stop questioning the authenticity of a person’s race because of the color of their politics.
