Nicely said, Mr. Kane

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel columnist Eugene Kane wrote a very good column about trying to end the black-on-black violence in Milwaukee.

I have to admit though that my favorite part was what he said to the people who call him whenever there is a shooting in town:

(FYI: I submit that if your first instinct after hearing about senseless violence in town is to contact me instead of sending angry messages to the mayor, generic viagra treatment police chief or your alderman, cialis generic troche your priorities are sorely misplaced.)

I never thought I’d see the day…

…when people would speculate that a Presidential candidate had exaggerated his illegal drug use to make himself look better:

Mr. Obama’s account of his younger self and drugs, discount cialis medicine clinic though, sildenafil significantly differs from the recollections of others who do not recall his drug use. That could suggest he was so private about his usage that few people were aware of it, that the memories of those who knew him decades ago are fuzzy or rosier out of a desire to protect him, or that he added some writerly touches in his memoir to make the challenges he overcame seem more dramatic.

WHAT?!!!!!

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Columnist Eugene Kane apparently thinks that Republicans questioning whether or not John McCain is conservative enough for them is the same as people questioning whether or not Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is black enough:

“It’s pretty ironic that Rush Limbaugh is mounting an attack against likely Republican presidential nominee John McCain. because he’s not ‘conservative enough’.

The fact Rush and other local right-wing squawkers in Milwaukee don’t like McCain is enough for me to hope he gets the Republican nomination. It will show they are not as in touch with their voting base as they claim, best viagra troche and it will also show the hypocrisy of conservatives who criticize other groups for refusing to let outside influences pick their leaders for them. When the Journal Sentinel ran an 2005 editorial that said Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas deserved an ‘asterisk’ beside his name for going against civil rights issues with importance to African-Americans, generic cialis lots of folks freaked out.

(I agreed with that description of Thomas, by the way.)

In my mind, that’s exactly what many conservatives are now saying about McCain. Basically, they are saying he’s not ‘conservative’ enough for them the same way Thomas wasn’t considered ‘black enough’ by many African-Americans.

If McCain wins the Republican nomination for president, he will be their ‘asterisk’ candiate.”

No. The two are NOT equivalent. Political beliefs are one thing, skin color is another.

Republicans saying that McCain isn’t as conservative as they would like is not the same as people saying that Clarence Thomas is less of a black man because he doesn’t toe the liberal line.

McCain not being conservative enough is equal to Thomas not being liberal enough.

For McCain to be treated by the Righ the way Thomas has been treated by the Left, you’d have to say McCain isn’t white enough.

(And no one who has ever seen the man would claim that.)

TANSTAAFL

No wonder the Milwaukee Journal Editorial Board so often writes in support of more government……they apparently think it’s all free.

The state Department of Revenue will close 19 of its 26 offices beginning this month, cialis sales health prompting fears that taxpayers who use those offices will be inconvenienced and in some cases forced to pay for services they now obtain for free.

There ain’t no such thing as a free lunch.

Maybe it’s because both their names start with “O”?

“Interviewed on ABC’s Good Morning America Wednesday, discount viagra recipe Winfrey rejected the notion she is supporting Obama merely because he is black.”

OK. Does anyone on the planet really think Oprah would be stumping for Obama if he were white?

This post was inspired by this one at Boots and Sabers.

76% of Wisconsinites think illegal immigrants shouldn’t be allowed to get driver’s liscences

A fact you probably didn’t know since the story on it was buried around page seven of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s metro section.
