Eugene Kane wants people to comment on his blog using their real names…

…which I would gladly do EXCEPT that posting any comment at all on Mr. Kane’s blog requires me to first provide the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel with the following information:

  • my email address
  • my physical address
  • what gender I am
  • my year of birth
  • my household income
  • whether or not I own my home
  • my marital status
  • and a few more odds and ends.

That information is the sort of stuff people pay good money for. And the folks at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel are fooling themselves if they think I’ll just give it all away for the privilege of making a comment that I could just as easily make here……like I just did.

Film flam.

Time Magazine ran a story on the escalating best viagra treat 9171, viagra 1720100-1,00.html”>trend of movies that elevate enlightenment above entertainment:

“More and more, Hollywood is betting on its powers of social engineering. Stars like Leonardo DiCaprio, Angelina Jolie, George Clooney and Charlize Theron have taken pay cuts and strolled red carpets for features that further humanitarian or political agendas.”

They call it filmanthropy. I don’t know why they bothered inventing a name for it. There’s already a perfectly good word for the practice of making a film in the service of fanaticism. It’s called propaganda.

The Plan?

So, viagra usa malady listening to NPR‘s This American Life, cialis generic I heard about “The Plan“:

“American cities have gone through a massive wave of gentrification in the last few decades. To some people, it’s not a natural ebb and flow of the real estate market, but a plot, by rich, mainly white people, to take over the neighborhoods of poor, mainly black people. This American Life producer Jon Jeter reports on how, in neighborhoods all over the country, the plot has a name, “The Plan,” and most people you talk to know about it.”

Now, I’m really confused.

Which am I supposed to feel guilty about: white flight or gentrification?

(As a side note: why am I never invited to the White Person Conspiracy meetings? Did I forget to pay my dues or something?)
